The Unnathi 1,5
kW wind turbine for urban use
The Unnathi wind
turbine is a small wind turbine of 1,5 kW especially suited for use in urban
areas. This means that extra attention is given not only to the safety
features and the emitted noise levels but also to the artistic design of the
turbine.
Essential for
creating an artistic design with a good public acceptance and therefore
suitable for urban areas is the absence of a tail vane. The turbine is
equipped with an active yawing mechanism giving the possibility to create a
smart design without a tail vane.
Also extra
attention is given to the different safety features of the turbine due to
the fact that the turbines will mostly by placed in densely populated areas.
So a safety brake and emergency yawing in combination with a back-up battery
are incorporated in the design.
A further
important aspect to increase the acceptance of the turbines for use in urban
areas is the emitted noise level. Special attention is given to this aspect
during the development of the blades.
